My name is Scott Rich.
When I was 14 years old, Family Ties (excuse me for dating myself here) was a popular sit-com. The very first time I saw Michael Keaton, I knew I wanted to have his drive and ambition and be in the finance industry.
Thus, a plan was born
I worked at several jobs since the age of 15. After graduation, I applied at a Temp Agency and got placed at a company called Barkley’s Bank in 1989 (what you would now know them as is CitiGroup) as a clerk. When my time was up in accordance with the Temp Agency, Barkley’s decided to keep me on as a Collections Rep. After that, I moved up the ladder to: Assistant Management, Manager and then finally a Loan Officer.
I was there for 7 years learning everything I could before branching out on my own.
As luck would have it, I met a Mortgage Broker who wanted to get out of the industry and was out to sell his company. I purchased the company and its license and that’s how I ended up owning a company called Equity Funding.
Equity Funding was originally located in Rockville, MD. I moved it to Frederick, MD where it flourished. I owned that company for 13 years. We were able to help thousands of families.
Throughout my 20+ years of doing business in this field, I saw a lot of things that I found disturbing. I saw a lot of hard-working people being denied loans over their credit scores. These were everyday, average, good-hearted people with steady jobs just trying to put their families under a roof of their own being denied by markings on agencies they didn’t have a thing to do with.
I watched under the Bush years how regulations were being ignored. A blind-eye was turned on an industry that was previously held to the highest of standards. It was so regulated before that if you were a realtor, you could not even rent space in the same mall strip as a broker; all in the interest of fairness.
I made efforts to draw attention to these flaws and they all fell on deaf ears.
Now I’m in New York and providing mortgages here as well as in Maryland. I’m also sanctioned to approve mortgages in: Colorado, Connecticut, California, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia.
Things seem to be getting better, but the issue of credit scoring is still one of the most important parts of getting a mortgage and I’m seeing people struggle with this issue now more than ever due to our eroding economy over the last few years which has put people in some precarious positions.
As a secondary result, I also learned some valuable ins and outs of tax laws, foreclosures and the lack of resources for teaching children about finances.
I created these products and this web site because I’ve seen time and time again how these exact tips have helped people. For that matter, they’ve helped me.
I know that there are copious amounts of advertisements on the internet that will promise you everything under the sun when it comes to this subject. The majority of them that I’ve personally looked at have not been up to par and you should expect more.

The eBooks were put together in the fashion that I’d like to receive myself. I thought that was only fair.
